Summary:
Learn all of the basics of screen printing flatstock (paper) in this 4-hour course. All students will walk away with an 11″x17″ two-color art print. Course instruction includes:
- Preparing screens (exposing film to emulsion and washout)
- Mixing colors using water-based inks
- Screenprinting technique (pulling ink through the screen)
Artwork for screen printing will be provided for you. Artwork for this class has already been tweaked for separations and for the screen burning process. That way you are able to come and focus on the basics versus worrying about whether your art is separated properly, whether your screens will burn correctly, etc. Once you have learned the basics of screen printing, coming back to the studio and printing your own art will be much easier and more enjoyable. If you are interested in bringing your own art for this beginning course, please contact Carlos so that you may discuss how to prepare your art for the course.
Plan on getting dirty! Please wear something you don’t mind getting permanent ink on. Bring a smock or apron, if you have one. Remember, screen printing is a stand-up sport! Wear comfortable shoes, as you will be standing the entire course.
