PrintAustin -- PrintEXPO 2020

PrintAustin’s 2020 EXPO will be held Saturday and Sunday, February 1+2, from 11-5pm and 11-3pm, respectively, with a Friday night launch party–The Printmaker’s Ball from 7-10pm. Our 2020 EXPO will be centrally located at the Blue Genie Big Top, 6100 Airport Blvd, Austin, TX 78752.

Burning Bones Press will hold its inaugural JINGLE ALL THE WAY DAY! at Saint Arnold Brewing Company; Beer Hall on December 8th from 11am – 4pm.

This holiday season Burning Bones Press makes your holiday gift giving easy - give prints, give handmade artisan gifts! An exciting and unique holiday event showcasing the alternative culture of Houston and bringing these merrymakers together for a day of art, music, cheer, commemorative pint glass and of course beer! Many of these artists are printmakers but this year we will be joined by local alternative businesses such as record shops, zines, books and community retailers, setting JINGLE ALL THE WAY DAY! apart from the usual holiday markets.

Handmade Paper Pop Shop featuring Kathy Gurwell!

Local Houston artisan Kathy Gurwell, joins Burning Bones Press’ Print Boutique, for a one day pop shop of hand-made paper goods.

Various types of Kathy Gurwell’s handmade papers will be available for purchase at the Burning Bones Press Print Boutique, from 10:00am - 2:00 pm. Kathy will be in the shop to answer questions about her papers and process of making paper.

About Kathy Gurwell;

Kathy Gurwell has years experience in the fields of paper and printing, beginning with her graphic arts study in Paris and continuing as a Curator Fellow at Tamarind Lithography Institute in Albuquerque, NM, the Museo della Carta in Fabriano, Italy, and Awagami Paper Factory in Japan. She has demonstrated papermaking in San Francisco, Santa Fe, and Houston, where she now lives. Her artistry in this field was recognized a few years ago when Lord & Taylor invited her to display and sell her products at a show of Santa Fe artists in their principal New York City store. In 2001 she was commissioned to make a 40 x 40 in. piece of paper for the opening of the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.

She is a volunteer and Instructor of paper making at The Printing Museum in Houston, and the Austin Book Arts Center in Austin, Texas.

Blue Genie is centrally located on Airport Blvd. The back of the building faces Airport--the front of the building is at the intersection of Airport and Dillard. 

PrintAustin hosts their annual PrintEXPO and print sale. The EXPO features 30+ artists, live demonstrations + bin work. Purchase original prints from regional talent, see live demonstrations and experience steamroller printing. The Steamroller Event is organized by PrintAustin in partnership with Texas A&M University-Kingsville Department of Art, Communications and Theatre. This is a family-friendly event.
