This workshop introduces the basics of multi-layer screenprinting utilizing analog cut and paste, collage techniques. Participants will create 2-layer, color prints on paper. We will focus on gaining a sense of image building through texture, line and color layering, in order to create an edition of prints. Participants should come with a collection of image ideas, mark making materials, and a readiness to experiment. This workshop emphasizes techniques for creating quick posters, flyers or fine art prints on paper.

This workshop will provide a basic understanding of the screenprinting process using photo-emulsion processes. We will learn step by step in stencil preparation, paper-printing options and color techniques. 

Supplies you need to bring:

**This workshop uses analog methods, no photoshop or Adobe Suite will be reviewed or taught.**

–Collage imagery will be provided by the instructor. Participants are encouraged to bring their own!

– Glue Stick (1)

– Shop towels (1 roll)

– Paint-pens or RED permanent markers (3-4 of various point sizes, 2 different colors)

– Pencil & sketch book

–  2-D Ephemera / images to collage Ex. Photocopied imagery, magazine pages, etc.)

- Lunch/drinks

Tess is an artist, printmaker and designer. She works primarily in print, graphic design and mixed media. She earned her BFA in printmaking from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. Along with her active fine art & design practice, Tess belongs to Burning Bones Press, a community print shop in Houston, where she acts as Press Assistant, as well as leading workshops and events within the Houston arts community. Her work has been shown throughout the Texas region and United States. She is an active member of PrintHouston and PrintAustin. She has taught at the Kinder High School for Performing & Visual Arts and The Glassell School of Art, instructing printmaking and 2D design.
