Open to all levels. This workshop is intended for beginning to intermediate levels.

Introduction to Screen Printing will teach the basic principles of photo emulsion screen printing using Rubylith film, black paper, printed film and opaque and transparent inks to produce a variety of abstract layered images. The workshop will also provide direction on how these techniques can be used to create a wide variety of images in many different graphic styles.

The workshop will cover the process of planning a print in overlapping layers, burning a screen, selecting colors and making variations of images using different papers and levels of ink opacity. The focus will mostly be in using simple shapes cut using Rubylith and black paper to make a print, but other methods including printing on film will be demonstrated as well.

All art supplies provided. There will only be a short break midway with pizza and beer provided. Please bring any other snacks or liquids you may need to get you through the day.

Carlos Pozo is an artist and designer whose work is heavily influenced by architecture and geometric forms. He has been a Burning Bones Press member since 2011.
