Open to all levels.

Join artists Lucinda Cobley and Cathie Kayser for a fun-filled weekend workshop exploring various techniques—including rubbings, fumage, suminagashi, trace monotype, transfer drawing—to create textures and lines in your art.

No presses are needed. What will be needed is the desire to let go, play, and experiment. This workshop is open to beginners, lapsed artists, and artists who just want to spend a weekend in the studio with us exploring some new techniques. No prior printmaking experience is required.

Supplies you need to bring:

  • 2–4 sheets of 22 X 30 printmaking paper (Stonehenge, Canson Editioning, Arnhem are cost effective)Sketch paper (whatever you have on hand)

  • A variety of drawing materials (whatever you have on hand)

  • Graphite sticks

  • 1–2 (8–10 inch) rubber brayers

  • 1 roll of blue shop towels

  • Apron

  • Lunch/drinks

Lucinda Cobley graduated with a BA (Honors) in Glass Design from North Staffordshire Polytechnic. She acquired a Post Graduate Diploma in Illustration from Central Saint Martins College of Art
and Design, University of Arts, London in 1993, and then qualified as a teacher from the Institute
of Education at University of Central London 1998. Now residing in the US, she lives in Houston, Texas. The artist’s practice encompasses painting, printmaking, and sculptural installation. Currently a member of PrintMatters and Burning Bones Press, she teaches painting and drawing at The Art League of Houston.

Cathie Kayser works are in private and public collections. She has participated in group exhibits
in Houston and Texas and has had solo exhibitions in Houston. She is a founding member of PrintMatters and the co-studio manager and assistant to master printer Patrick Masterson at Burning Bones Press. She works in a variety of printmaking techniques—intaglio, screenprint, lithography, woodcut, and monoprint. She has taught workshops in Houston, Austin, and Edmonton, Alberta.

A minimum of 5 participants is required for this workshop to run. Participants will be notified one week in advance of cancellation of workshop and receive a full refund. Participant cancellations less than 48hrs before workshop will not be refunded. Credit for future workshops will be given instead.
